All Too Hard iron-horse lays down The Law

All Too Hard 4yo Test The Law has passed his first test at 2250m with a resounding victory in the Quayclean Hcp at Morphettville.

An iron-horse if ever there was one, Test The Law was racing for the 17th time this season for part-owner and trainer Matt Seyers on Saturday.  He was stepping up from an on-pace win in the Thomas Farms Hcp (2000m) at Murray Bridge last month and that pattern paid off again over an extra furlong.

“He’s a lovely horse with a professional attitude and that was another strong win,” Seyers said as he returned to scale with Jacob Opperman.  “He travels beautifully and is one of Jacob’s favourite rides.”

Test The Law faced the breeze in the running-line with 60kg on a Heavy 9.  He camped on front-runner Badiss (Dissident) before opening up to score comfortably from backmarker Chosen Miss (Choisir).

“We bought him from Baramul Stud at the Adelaide Magic Millions,” Seyers recalled.  “He looked an athlete and broke in beautifully although I was pretty sure he wouldn’t get up and run early.”

Test The Law proved him wrong winning a Murray Bridge nursery and finishing fourth in the 2022 Oaklands Plate (LR, 1400m) won by He’s Heaven (Zoustar).  Since then, he’s paid back a $45,000 price-tag many times over with earnings of $375,000

Test The Law is the first foal of Canberra winner Constitutional (Medaglia d’Oro) who was later sent to New Zealand where she has a rising 2yo filly by Westbury Park sire Reliable Man (GB).  His second-dam Assertion (Zabeel) also has an unraced Reliable Man (GB) 2yo filly named White Mask.

All Too Hard remains in the Top 10 for the 2023-24 Australian sires’ premiership with prizemoney over $11 million.  Last month’s BRC Stradbroke Hcp (Gr.1, 1400m) winner Stefi Magnetica is his chief earner with $2.08 million.
