Durrant Breeding and Racing catalogued 46 lots that reached turnover of $478,000 at the Inglis February Online Sale last week.
The reduction sale was popular with a buying-bench bidding on unreserved stock that included city winners as well as mares in foal to and yearlings by the likes of Awesome Rock, Snippetson and Universal Ruler.
“I’m happy with the results,’’ Adam Durrant said. “I thought they sold well overall so you can’t ask for much more than that. I was hammered with interest, the phone didn’t stop ringing and it was really well-received by the market.”
A pair of unraced juveniles, who had both trialled well at Bunbury, topped proceedings at $45,000. Articole (Lot 137), a 2yo son of Snippetson, was purchased by trainer Steele Casey. He is the first foal of city-winning mare Karlakee Miss (Oratorio) and had finished fourth in a Bunbury 400m hit-out last Monday morning.
Dashing Diva (Lot 155) was knocked down to Adam Gangemi after she finished second in the same trial last Monday. She is a Dash For Cash filly from NZ-bred mare Jean (Volksraad (GB). The dam has a perfect record at stud with six winners from six starters headed by Indigo Blue (Blackfriars) who was runner-up in the G2 Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) of 2020.
Brandon Fiore was next on the leaderboard with $35,000 paid for Maschino 3yo North Face (Lot 146). The Oakland Park homebred had won a Bunbury 3yo maiden in December when handled by his wife Lucy.
North Face was given a gun run right behind the leader Lyn’s Star (War Chant) before Fiore angled into the clear and released the hand-brake. “They weren’t getting anywhere near North Face!” Durrant Racing posted on Facebook. “He’s a progressive gelding and is very raw but will be a force when he connects the dots.”
Fiore also purchased unraced 2yo filly Zali’s Gift (Sessions) for $27,500 and a her yearling sister by Sessions for $9,000. Later in the day he kept the family together with $600 for their 8yo dam Showzali (Lot 417). The Showcasing mare was empty after missing to Ingratiating (Frosted) on a late cover in December.
