Confident winner for Amelia Park

In Confidence looked readymade on debut sitting outside the speed and then sprinting to a winning lead in the Sound Telegraph Maiden (1200m) at Pinjarra on Wednesday.

Trained by Dan Morton for Amelia Park part-owner and breeder Peter Walsh, she was given two barrier trials at Belmont in April and was a firming second-elect behind Peters Investments homebred Holler Nuff (Justify) who was also facing the starter for the first time as the $3.40 favourite.

“Well-named and well-ridden – In Confidence lived up to her name under the in-form Lucy Fiore,” Amelia Park posted.  “Another winner for our farm and she definitely has some of her Mum’s ability.”

In Confidence is a first-crop daughter of Coolmore Stud’s exciting Group 1 sprinter-miler King’s Legacy (Redoute’s Choice).  She’s also the first winner for Sophia’s Secret who was prepared by Morton for a running double at Belmont and Ascot in October 2017 prior to filling a black-type placing in the LR Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) won by Mikimoto (Sebring).

The mare was bred by Jingle Holdings principals Frank and Margaret Fry and was a $210,000 broodmare purchase for Amelia Park.  She hails from the family of Group 1 winners Sky Cuddle (Snippets) and Prowess (Proisir).

Earlier at Pinjarra, Rally The Troops (Blue Point) won the TABtouch Hcp (1400m) for Pearce Racing.  He was bred by Amelia Park in partnership with Brian Bradley and had been knocked down for $50,000 at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions Winter Yearling Sale when offered (as agent) by Willow Dale Farm.

He’s a half-brother to LR Melvista Stakes (2200m) winner Bucket’s Ridge (Toronado) and their dam Reveille (High Chaparral) won three races up to a mile at Ascot.  It’s the family of Group 2 winning brothers King Canute (Perth Cup) and Redwoldt (Karrakatta Plate).

Amelia Park was back in the frame in Kalgoorlie on Sunday when Our Shillayleigh broke through for trainer Stephen Miller in the MM Cabinets Maiden (1400m).  The 3yo son of Shalaa (Ire) sat in the box seat and went to the line with ears pricked for Lucy Fiore.

Our Shillayleigh was a $70,000 graduate from Amelia Park’s draft to the 2023 Perth Magic Millions.  His dam Addie Lane (Street Cry) was purchased by Amelia Park from Coolmore Stud (as agent) for $240,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.

Addie Lane is a full-sister to Sabatini (G2 MRC Angus Armanasco Stakes) and a half-sister to Vivi Veloce (G3 SAJC National Stakes).  Her most recent cover was to Kelstar Park sire Hi World (High Chaparral).
