Extreme Love was a first-up maiden winner at Bunbury earlier this month and she was good enough to step straight into a Class 3 and win again with Willie Pike taking over at Northam on Thursday.

Far from being overawed in the AFGRI Precision Hcp (1100m), she came out ahead of a contest at close-quarters with Border Force (Territories) and then ran down Audrey Jane (Shalaa) who had stolen a break while she was otherwise engaged in that bumping duel at the top of the straight.

“She showed her true capabilities at Bunbury dominating a short-course maiden field under a hold!” Durrant Racing reported.  “She’s a smart three-year-old with a bright future.”

Extreme Love is by G1 NZ 2000 Guineas (1600m) winner Xtravagant (Pentire) who stands at Newhaven Park in NSW and she’s bred on the same cross as LR Raconteur Stakes (1400m) winner Devoted.

Adam Durrant sourced her from the Dawson Stud consignment to the Swan Valley Magic Millions Yearling Sale in 2023.  Her dam Anamour was initially based in NSW where she threw winners by Northern Meteor and Tale Of The Cat (USA).

Graham Daws bought Anamour for $42,000 through Belmont Bloodstock at the 2017 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale when she was carrying Outback Jack (Outreach).  He won at Belmont and Ascot for Stephen Miller and was also runner-up to Western Empire (NZ) in the LR Melvista Stakes (2200m) of 2021.

The mare’s yearling is a Churchill (USA) filly named The Nun with Justine Erkelens and her weanling is a colt by Playing God.

Dawson Stud graduates Al Tina (Al Maher) and Brazen Empress (Safeguard) kicked-off July with a double at Kalgoorlie and there’s also a link with last week’s Northam winner Sheeza Sheila (All American) who is from Dawson Stud-bred mare Valarianne (Bletchley Park).
