Evergreen galloper Let’s Galahvant has been ever-present in the winner’s enclosure for Pearce Racing since breaking his maiden at Belmont in November 2021 and he wasn’t to be denied in the LR South-West Cup (2213m) at Bunbury on Sunday.
Let’s Galahvant (7g Galah – Secret Crush by So Secret) was bred and sold by Rangeview Stud for $10,000 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions and yesterday’s latest black-type success increased his prizemoney to $1.07 million including Westspeed bonuses of $99,300.
Stable jockey Tash Faithfull took a patient approach settling last of the ten starters before producing a powerful finish to score by two lengths from the Peters Investments stablemates Diamond Scene (So You Think), Opportunistic (So You Think) and First Encounter (Dundeel).
“He’s been outstanding throughout his career and he he’s done a fantastic job today,” co-trainer Ben Pearce said. “For the last three years, he’s popped up every prep and won a stakes race. He’s a once-in-a-lifetime horse that just keeps earning every campaign.
“We were thrilled to reach the million-dollar mark with him last start and to get another stakes win today is marvellous.”
Earlier black-type highlights among his 13 wins in 55 starts have been the LR KBRC Hannan’s Hcp (1400m), LR Northam Cup (1600m), LR Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1400m) and G3 Strickland Stakes (2000m).
“He’s been a really good horse for me,” Faithfull said. “I didn’t want to fan too wide on the corner because it was much softer out there. The middle of the track was the sweet spot and he travelled beautifully for a good win.”
Ben and Dan Pearce also manage the winning syndicate and they will will now consider another Group 1 campaign in the summer targeting the Railway Stakes (1600m) and Northerly Stakes (1800m).
Let’s Galahvant is the fourth winner from the first four foals Rangeview Stud bred from Secret Crush. The So Secret mare is a half-sister to the Key Business (Success Express) black-type winners Keyton Grace and Shock Value.
Secret Crush was sold to Victorian-based Tallinga Park owner Greg Adamo at the 2021 Inglis March Digital Sale and she has a yearling filly and filly foal by Nicconi (Bianconi) who stands at Widden Stud’s southern satellite in Riddell’s Creek.
