Nonesospicy wins all so easily at Belmont

Trainer Sean Casey has flagged a bright future for his Gingerbread Man filly Nonesospicy after her front-running victory at Belmont on Wednesday.

Nonesospicy anticipated the start of the MCA Polytrack Hcp (1000m) and was never in danger under Willie Pike.  She saw off Coondle (Ducimus) in the straight before Just Saint James (Jimmy Choux) issued a belated challenge to get within a length of the winner.

“She bounced out of the gates and is very quick,” Casey said.  “She got a breather before responding to a hands and heels ride and I thought it was a pretty impressive win.”

Nonesospicy (3f Gingerbread Man – There’snonesosassy by Due Sasso) had struck a world of trouble at her only 2yo start back in April.  She was buffeted on jumping in an Ascot nursery and then lost ground when racing in restricted room.  After improving along the rails, she was restrained off the heels of a tiring runner and returned to scale with an abrasion to the near-knee.

Resuming this term, Nonesospicy worked home for an encouraging third to Six Shooter (Shooting To Win) at Belmont last month before breaking through with on-pace tactics at Ascot on Melbourne Cup Day.

That plan worked again as an odds-on favourite on Wednesday and now she’s on a hat-trick.  “We will look for a Saturday race in her own company,” Casey said.  “She was so tenacious against older horses today.”

Pike reported Nonesospicy was doing it all so easily a long way from home.  “She’s the ultimate professional and loves to get out there and run.  She’s been well-educated and was ready to rock and roll today.  That’s a great asset and she never felt like losing.”

Casey prepares Nonesospicy in partnership with his son Jake for owner-breeder Wally Daly.  They kicked off The Pinnacles with Wind And The Lion (Written By) winning the LR Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) last Saturday.

“We had a bit of luck with the family and she is a full-sister to Ain’t No Other Man,” Casey continued.  “Their mother There’snonesosassy has foaled other winners by various sires but she clicks with Gingerbread Man.”

The Caseys have won 10 races with Gingerbread Man gallopers and Ain’t No Other Man is also on a hat-trick following a running double at Ascot last month.  There’snonesosassy was one of seven mares Daly sent to Gingerbread Man this season.

Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) is standing for a $5,500 (inc GST) service fee at Yarradale this season and Davy Hanratty can be contacted for bookings or further details on (08) 9574 6490 or 0429 326 904.
