Rommel sprinter Snowdome has notched a third black-type victory at Ascot in the LR Cyril Flower Stakes (1200m) while completing a winning double for Ridgeport Farm on Saturday.
Ridgeport Farm is home to Rommel (Commands) and Snowdome is his flagbearer with earlier Group 3 strikes in the 2022 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) and 2023 Prince of Wales Stakes (1000m).
Racing in the blue and green diagonal-striped colours of Ridgeport Farm owner-breeder Santo Guagliardo, he shadowed front-runner Norich (Demerit) before going into overdrive for Brad Parnham to put three lengths on the favourite Twain’s Angel (Toronado).
“He’s back on track and I thought he was a bird today,” trainer Neville Parnham said. “There was no set plan but Brad summed it up a treat. He got a lovely cart into the race off a strong tempo and let down beautifully.”
Snowdome (5g Rommel – Snow Pixie by Snitzel) was unplaced in all five starts last year, however, Parnham pointed out he did have joint issues and also battled a bad virus that knocked him for six.
The Cyril Flower prizemoney sent his earnings to $867,000 which includes Westspeed Bonuses of $236,000. Guagliardo sold him through Mogumber Park (as agent) for $180,000 at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions and he kept a share in a partnership comprising Parnham, his wife Carol along with staunch stable supporters Bob Pearson and Mike Fagan.
Earlier on Saturday, trainer Dan Morton unveiled another promising Ridgeport-bred graduate when Monte Tremezzo won on debut in the PKF Perth Plate (1000m). Given a gun run behind the speed by Brad Parnham, Monte Tremezzo burst through a gap one off the fence to get the better of hot favourite Storm Away (Lucky Vega).
It was a professional performance from a filly who was unplaced at her only barrier trial at Belmont last month. “I thought she trialled nicely that day after being slowly away,” Parnham said. “I held a good spot today following the ones to beat and she had a good kick. I did hear a fair bit going on back in the field but we had a trouble-free run.”
Monte Tremezzo (2f Hellbent – Tremezzina by Not A Single Doubt) sold for $50,000 at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions and her connections banked $65,000 first-up which included Westspeed Bonuses of $22,000.
Santo Guagliardo had purchased Tremezzina with a PPT to Hellbent for $35,000 at the 2022 Inglis May (Early) Online Sale. There was already a Perth link in the family through the dam’s half-brother Testamezzo (Testa Rossa) who had won a LR Raconteur Stakes (1500m) and RL Magic Millions 3YO Trophy (1200m) for trainer Dan Pearce in 2014.
Tremezzina has a Rommel filly on the ground at Ridgeport Farm in Waroona and she was bred back to Darling View stallion Lightsaber in September.
