Later Alligator was a class above his Albany rivals last Friday and that could tempt trainer Ryan Hill to pit him against much stronger company in the RL Magic Millions WA 3yo Trophy (1200m) on February 15.

A Playing God 3yo on debut 400km from home would normally activate interest but Later Alligator was easy to back at $8 in the Kent Maiden (1230m).  He had been slowly away in a couple of Lark Hill trials and also settled well back on raceday although well within sight of locally-based leader Alotta Dane (A Lot).

“That was a cruisy win,” Hill said after his charge raced away in the straight under Victoria Corver.  “We took him down for an educational run and he didn’t disappoint.  He won in style and congratulations to Mick (Wilson) who has been very patient.”

Later Alligator is the 19th individual 3yo winner by Playing God this season and they have won 28 races headed by West Star (LR Belgravia Stakes) and September Born (LR Fairetha Stakes).  Apart from the WA General Sires’ title, the Darling View Thoroughbreds champion also holds a commanding lead on the WA 3YO Sires’ title for 2024-25.

There’s another $250,000 allocated for the RL Magic Millions WA 3yo Trophy (1200m) at Pinjarra on Saturday week.

Later Alligator is a half-brother to three winners including G3 WA Oaks placegetter Miss Dominican (Blackfriars) and cost $160,000 from Greenfields Lodge at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions.

His dam Five Fields (Citidancer) was bred by Yarradale Stud’s Ron and Lyn Sayers to win a Pinjarra maiden and Tony and Libby Patrizi have her Rommel filly catalogued as Lot 41 through their Greenfields Lodge draft to this month’s Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Playing God doubled up in the Great Southern on Friday with Best Of The Gods in the Jerramungup Hcp (1500m).  He’s carries the successful cross with Oratorio just like his older full-brother Ex Sport Man (G2 Karrakatta Plate).
