I’m All The Talk (Stratum) departed this mortal coil three years ago and his loss continues to be felt full-bore with a final crop of premiership juveniles plus a burgeoning stayer like Filthy Habits.
Trainer Brandon Fiore prepares Filthy Habits for a partnership that includes his father-in-law Justin Warwick and Forest View Farm owner Ben Duncan who pinhooked him as an August yearling for $25,000 at the 2020 Mungrup Stud Dispersal Sale.
He toured the Swan Valley sale-ring six months later at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions when Warwick bought him for $80,000.
Fiore’s wife Lucy has been a constant aboard the gelding since transferring from Goldfields trainer Peter Fernie in December 2023 and they’ve combined to win 7 times in 23 starts sending his career earnings to $537,400 topped by Westspeed Bonuses of $88,700.
Filthy Habits (5g I’m All The Talk – Dirty Vegas by Lucky Owners) continues to improve his strike-rate with a win in the $125,000 Albany Cup (2100m) on April 20 and a nail-biting victory over Fat Roy Slim (Ouqba) in the $100,000 Rogan Josh Hcp (2100m) at Ascot on Saturday.
Fiore initially thought he got beat yesterday. “But once I watched the slow-motion replay I was confident he just got the bob. Thank God! He just gives the same amount every time and I adjust the workload to suit him.
“He will go out for a spell now and we will bring him back for the (G2) Perth Cup on New Year’s Day. Hopefully, we can win a lead-up race on the way.”
Justin Warwick won the 2014 Perth Cup with Black Tycoon (Blackfriars) who benefited from a masterful ride by Damien Oliver. The home-town hero threaded through traffic to claim a cliffhanger from God Has Spoken (Blackfriars).
The Filthy Habits feature double put the finishing touches on a successful season for Forest View Farm’s Ben and Jo Duncan. Their Champion WA 2YO Super Smink (Super One) won the G3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) during the Ascot summer and will return in the spring with Lindsay Park in Victoria.
Sixinch Heels (Nicconi) completed an Ascot hat-trick in April while their homebred 3yo filly Mangifera (War Chant) was named a TBWA Winner Of The Week at Pinjarra. Hanoi Miss (Epaulette) and Belta Of A Song (Your Song) were also two of the many recent city winners to carry the blue and gold silks of Forest View Farm.
