Acclamation heads Day 3 at Goffs Orby Sale

An Acclamation headed the third and final session of this year’s Goffs Orby Sale at 53,000 euros in Ireland on Thursday evening.

Rathbarry Stud consigned the Day 3 leader that was sold to Paddy Twomey.  The Acclamation filly is a half sister to stakes winner Ceremonial Jade and is out of a winning Danehill sister to G1 French 2000 Guineas placed Firth Of Lorne.

Of the 614 horses offered this week, 487 were sold to produce a turnover of 22.52 million euros.  The average fell by 3% to 46,247 euros and the clearance rate for the entire sale improved two points to 79%.

“Steady without being spectacular is probably the most apt phrase to describe the last three day’s trade,” Goffs director Henry Beeby said.

“Indeed, to have traded over 22.50 million euros against the backdrop of headlines we have all endured in the Eurozone countries in recent months is a definite positive.”
