All American (Aus) has arrived at Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky to stand his first season in the northern hemisphere. He will stand for US$10,000 and will continue shuttling between the United States and Arrowfield in Australia.
All American (Red Ransom) is a grandson of Roberto who was bred, raised and stood his entire stud career at Darby Dan. His dam Milva (Strawberry Road) is a half sister to G1 winner and young sire Rock Hard Ten.
Roberto was European Champion in 1971-72 and Darby Dan owner John Phillips is hoping All American can extend his legacy at stud.
All American will deliver precocious speed adaptable to any racing surface according to Phillips. “All American raced exclusively on turf in Australia, but the horses in his family, like most Robertos, had the ability to perform on all surfaces,” Phillips said. “In this age, I think that makes him particularly appealing. He is a large but not coarse grandson of Roberto. He is an extremely attractive stallion who will sell a lot of seasons just on his looks alone.”
All American set a track record in the G1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last year clocking 1:33.98s. He also won the G3 Skyline Stakes at two and was G1 placed in the Ascot Vale Stakes at three. The big brown stallion entered stud at Arrowfield this year at a $16,500 service fee.
“I am literally breeding my best mares to him,” Phillips said. “All American is the best remaining influence I’ve seen from the sireline. He truly possesses all of Roberto’s best traits, especially a solid juvenile campaign. I just went down my check list and he had every quality.”
All American is free of any Northern Dancer for five generations. “He arrived here on Thursday looking absolutely tremendous,” Phillips added. “He’s a must-see individual.”
