Oaklands Stud sire All Bar One grabbed a share of the lead in the Australian first-season winners’ premiership thanks to a split decision at Ipswich on Friday.
All The Torque (2g All Bar One – Majestic Slipper by Catbird) raced to a big lead in the straight but was collared right on the line by Stop Crying (Greenwood Lake) in the City Of Ipswich Maiden Plate (1350m). After calling for a photo, the judge declared him the winner by a nose.
The decision increased All Bar One’s individual winner count to 8 this season and, not for the first time, he joined Darley freshman Nadeem at the top of the table.
Independent Stallions sire Artie Schiller is one behind the leaders and he was joined on 7 winners by Darley stallion Ad Valorem when Henshaw scored at Geelong on Friday.
All Bar One (Hennessy) was a G2 winner of the Sir Byrne Hart Stakes at Eagle Farm for Hoss and Gillian Heinrich. He stood at Oaklands for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee last year.
His Ipswich winner was a $7,000 buy for Deagon trainer Nathan Schofield at the 2010 QTIS 600 Sale last year. He was sold through the Darlington Stud draft and collected $13,500 in prizemoney and bonuses for connections at Ipswich.
All The Torque is closely related to G1 racehorse and sire General Nediym. His dam Majestic Slipper foaled another All Bar One colt last year.
