Vinery Stud sire All Too Hard has topped the Adelaide Magic Millions with a $190,000 colt bought by trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas.

Vinery sires feature on both sides of his pedigree.  He’s the second foal of Lady Paget (Testa Rossa) who is a winning half-sister to Casino Prince.

Macdonald did best in a bidding battle with Gary Moore to secure the colt on Tuesday morning.

“He’s lovely this bloke,” Macdonald said of Lot 145 (pictured below).  “As good as any colt on the complex.  I’ve never had one by All Too Hard but I know Johnny Hawkes has great faith in him and he doesn’t do a bad job with a horse.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Warwick Farm trainer Gary Portelli weighed in with $100,000 for the All Too Hard colt from More Than Ready mare L’Amoureuse (Lot 133).  His dam is a half-sister to Listed Hareeba Stakes winner Jolie Blonde (Testa Rossa).

The Adelaide results follow outstanding returns for All Too Hard at the Inglis Premier ($500,000 filly for Little Kwok Hing Hung) and Gold Coast Magic Millions ($600,000 colt to Prime Thoroughbreds).

This year’s yearling market reflects the potential shown by All Too Hard’s first crop in the opening half of the season.  The Gai Waterhouse-Adrian Bott trained filly Mystic Empire earned the first black-type for her sire in the G3 Widden Stakes at Rosehill in January while promising youngsters Eclair Sunshine, Aberro, Newburgh, Sky Lake, All Too Huiying, Curdled, Blackwolf Run, Reflectivity, Groundbreak & Darhad have all been placed.

All Too Hard didn’t get mobile until he was an autumn two year-old in Melbourne and he peaked the following season with Group 1 highlights in the Caulfield Guineas, Orr Stakes, Futurity Stakes and All-Aged Stakes at Randwick.

Trainers expect his stock to also mature into stakes winning three year-olds and they will bank on it when the cream of All Too Hard’s second crop parade at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale starting on April 4.
