Anelene aiming for Tasmanian Oaks

Anelene will be set for three-year-old feature races at the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival following her impressive win in Launceston on Wednesday evening.

Anelene (3f Written Tycoon – Ring Card Girl by Bellotto) won the Colours 3YO Handicap (1400m) after a two-horse war with Bionic Star.  “She is doing everything I had hoped this time in,” trainer George Blacker said.  “We will aim her at all of the better three-year-old races.”

The Longford based filly won her final two winter campaign outings and returned this season to be beaten a nose by Buzzing Along (Tough Speed) in the Jackson Motors 3YO Cup on November 23.  She was placed behind Bionic Star second up but turned the tables on him on Wednesday.

“The next step is the Tasmanian Guineas,” Blacker explained.  “If she handles that then we can look at the Thousand Guineas.  I bought her with the Tasmanian Oaks in mind and that’s the ultimate aim.”

Anelene is by Eliza Park sire Written Tycoon and she was a $20,000 buy from Bucklee Farm at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.  Her dam Ring Card Girl was an Eagle Farm winner and she has also produced minor winners by Piccolo, Hurricane Sky, Rhythm and Amalfi.

Bionic Star (Bianconi) was gallant in defeat on Wednesday and his connections will keep progressing to the Tasmanian Guineas.
