Graceful Anna is a great advertisement for the Magic Millions. The Canny Lad filly went through the Gold Coast sale ring three times before embarking on a career that will reach a climax when she runs in the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy on January 9.
Graceful Anna (3f Canny Lady – Lamellar by Grand Lodge) maintained her unbeaten record this preparation with a determined victory in the G3 Vo Rogue Plate at Doomben on Boxing Day.
It boosted her earnings to $237,900 for connections and trainer David Pfeiffer. She was sold for $14,000 at the 2007 National Foal Sale, then $25,000 at the 2008 Gold Coast Yearling Sale and thirdly for $38,000 at the 2008 National 2yo HIT Sale.
Graceful Anna won at Kembla Grange and Gosford before breaking the track record in the Magic Millions 3YO Stakes at Wyong earlier this month.
“She had a couple of minor hiccups so we took our time with her,” Pfeiffer said. “There was no point in rushing her. She had the one run earlier this year and then we sent her to the paddock with these races in mind.”
Darley sire Canny Lad got the winner from Lamellar who is now based in Western Australia. Her Hurricane Sky filly (Lot 100) will be part of the Kintore Stud draft at the Perth Magic Millions on January 27.
