Any Given Saturday tops Ocala Sale in Florida

Darley shuttler Any Given Saturday topped the Ocala Select yearling sale in Florida on Tuesday when his filly out of Ricki S. (Prized) sold for US$280,000.  Her dam is a sister to Group winning millionaire Brass Hat and she was purchased by Jeff Bonde and Mersad Metanovic.

Any Given Saturday shuttles to Darley’s Seymour base at Northwood Park.  He was a G1 winner of the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park and stands for a $13,750 fee in Victoria.

Any Given Saturday (Distorted Humor) also topped the opening session of the Keeneland January yearling sale when his colt from Deputy Minister mare Pout made $150,000.

The Ocala Select session saw 131 lots change hands at an average of $35,981 which was up 9% from last year.  The median price rose $2,000 to $27,000 and the clearance rate improved 13 points to 73%.

Among other six-figures lots were a Malibu Moon colt ($135,000), Tiznow filly ($105,000) Congrats colt ($100,000) and a Pomeroy colt ($100,000).

A total of 29 horses brought $50,000 or more compared with 20 last year.  The sale continues on Wednesday with Day 1 of the non-Select sessions.
