Aquis Farm’s investment in Australian bloodstock continued in earnest at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast this week buying 47 lots for more than $7.60 million.
The Sale coincided with Aquis Australia sealing a three-year partnership deal with the Gold Coast Turf Club that will see the racecourse renamed Aquis Park.
Aquis Farm CEO Justin Fung and Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) agent Julian Blaxland paid top-price of $820,000 for Tremor (Commands). A Canterbury winner for Godolphin, she is a three-quarter sister to G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake and was sold in foal to Medaglia d’Oro.
“It’s impossible to get into a family like this generally and it’s a terrific opportunity for a new stud farm like Aquis,” Blaxland said. “Tremor could return to Medaglia d’Oro this season.
“Aquis sold a lovely Medaglia d’Oro yearling colt for $1 million here in January and we were happy to go hard to secure a blue-chip mare.”
The Aquis buys from Godolphin also included Street Cry’s unraced mare Antillanca sold with a positive to Exceed And Excel for $400,000. Her dam Portillo and her half-sister Ghisoni both won Group 2 editions of the Surround Stakes.
Written Tycoon mare Shakespearean Lass was another Aquis purchase further down the leader-board at $360,000. Sold by Glenesk Thoroughbreds (as agent), she won a half-dozen sprints for Pat Carey topped by last year’s Listed W J Adams Stakes at Caulfield.

Glenesk Thoroughbreds is operated by Randwick Bloodstock (FBAA) owner Brett Howard who bought 8 lots for clients totalling $592,000.
Top of the dial was Lindsay Park’s Flemington stakes-performer Claudia Jean (Not a Single Doubt) for $250,000.
Aquis Farm’s Broodmare Sale figures follow a Weanling Sale shopping-list of 11 foals for $1.59 million. Top of the dial were colts by Snitzel ($460,000) and Exceed And Excel ($320,000).
The Magic Millions National Yearling Sale commences on Tuesday and Aquis Farm will be in the vendor box with 23 yearlings. The Bernardini – Cajou colt (Lot 2001) received a stakes update last weekend when his older half-brother Allergic won the Listed McKell Cup at Randwick.
