The first yearlings by Red Ransom’s Group 1 son Arlington arrived at the Inglis complex on Thursday in readiness for the Sydney Classic Summer Book Sale.
Arlington stands at Lincoln Farm and he has been popular in the Hunter Valley covering books of 106 and 110 mares in his first two seasons.
Lincoln Farm owner Nick Posa is understandably upbeat about Arlington’s prospects after the positive response from breeders and the ongoing accolades for his older half-brother Savabeel. “The success on both sides of his pedigree speaks for itself,” Posa said. “Red Ransom is a champion sire of sires and his dam Savannah Success was a Group 1 winner in New Zealand and Australia.
“She foaled Savabeel three years before Arlington and everyone knows how well he’s going at stud.”
After a sensational season in 2013-14, Savabeel was rated Australasia’s leading sire with an outstanding 9% lifetime stakes winners-to-runners strike-rate.
NZ bred mare Lucia Valentina continued the winning run this season in the G1 Turnbull Stakes before a creditable third in the G1 Caulfield Cup. Her autumn target is the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on April 11.
Another of his Kiwi gallopers heading to Australia is the very promising four year-old Kawi. He became the 36th and latest stakes winner by Savabeel at Trentham last month and is being set for the G1 Stradbroke Hcp.
“Arlington fits the bill to follow Savabeel,” Posa said this week. “His first yearlings have impressed every trainer who has come up to the farm for inspections over the last month or two.”
Lincoln Farm has catalogued an Arlington – Anamanor colt (Lot 522) for the Inglis Classic Sale. The dam was trained by Gary Portelli for wins at Randwick (2) and Warwick Farm.
Arlington has a colt from a half-sister to precocious stakes winner Paprika (Lot 108) at the Classic Sale and Lincoln Farm has entered another three of his yearlings for the Adelaide Magic Millions next month.
“We also have Arlington colts and fillies for private sale,” Posa said. “I will be happy to arrange an inspection at the farm after the Classic Sale.”
Posa can be contacted on 0417 903 578 or during the Classic at Stable 1.
