Paul Messara ran the whole gamut of emotions at Scone on Monday. The Arrowfield trainer was a two-time winner with Glare (Redoute’s Choice) and Hussterics (Hussonet) but the stable’s black-type sprinter Battlefield had to be put down after breaking down badly in a gallop between races at White Park.
Hussterics (3f Hussonet – Flying Single by Flying Spur) was a five length winner with ears pricked on debut. Her dam is a half-sister to Arrowfield sire Not a Single Doubt who was also among the winners at Scone on Monday.
She cost $310,000 at the Inglis Easter yearling sale and races for Arrowfield in partnership with the Chilean based Suma Stables Syndicate. Arrowfield will sell a brother to Hussterics at the 2011 Inglis Easter yearling sale as Lot 245.
Hussterics was the third maiden winner in 24 hours for Hussonet. The Arrowfield champion sired Sunshine Coast winners Lentini Mist and Red Husserati on Sunday.
Battlefield (5g Choisir – Charming Charge by Rory’s Jester) was on the comeback trail after 18 months on the sidelines. He was last seen winning the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton in July 2009. A flashy chestnut, he had won five races in just seven starts and was working solo when tragedy struck in the straight.
