Arrowfield sires crowned first-season champions

Arrowfield Stud stallions Charge Forward and Not A Single Doubt have been crowned Champion Australian first-season sires by prizemoney and individual winners respectively for 2008-09.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better start for these young stallions,” said Arrowfield principal John Messara.  “Charge Forward has become an excellent outcross option for breeders while Not A Single Doubt’s performance only serves to confirm the prepotency of his own sire Redoute’s Choice.”

Charge Forward is the fastest colt in Golden Slipper history and he has sired stock with similar precocity.  His filly Headway, who was runner-up in the G1 Golden Slipper, was named Champion 2yo Filly in the recently released 2008-09 ANZ Classifications.

Not A Single Doubt is the first stakes-winning son of Redoute’s Choice to stand at stud.  He sired 13 Australian winners in 2008-09 – a large number of whom have won on metropolitan tracks.  He also sired two winners in New Zealand and G2 runner-up Always Certain in Singapore.

In addition to the freshmen’s success, Arrowfield’s other stallions Redoute’s Choice, Flying Spur, Danzero and Hussonet all finished the season rated amongst the leading 16 stallions in the country.

Redoute’s Choice closed the season with the greatest number of stakes winners in Australia (15) and the greatest number of stakes wins (25).  His daughter Samantha Miss also won the title of Champion 3yo Filly after winning the G1 VRC Victorian Oaks and AJC Flight Stakes.  Additionally, his 2YO Australian-bred son Musir won the G1 Golden Horseshoe at Greyville in South Africa.

Hussonet’s Champion son and reigning Australian Horse Of the Year Weekend Hussler secured the ANZ Classification’s equal highest rating for an individual performance during the season when he beat Pompeii Ruler to win the G1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) in September.  He also won the Memsie (1400m) and Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at his two previous starts.
