Independent Stallions shuttler Artie Schiller topped Day 9 the Keeneland November Sale on Wednesday when his filly foal from stakes winner Love a Ruckus (Bold Ruckus) made US$90,000.
A Group 1 winner of the 2005 Breeders’ Cup Mile, Artie Schiller is a son of El Prado and will have his first southern crop for sale at the 2010 Australian yearling sales. He stood for a $22,000 fee first-up in 2007 and has 63 live foals from his initial Australian crop.
Artie Schiller’s top priced yearlings at the 2009 North American majors were a filly (ex Divi) that made $170,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale in August and a colt (ex Irish Linnet) for $100,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Sale in July.
Keeneland reported Wednesday’s average price dropped 39% to $14,139. The median of $10,000 was down 33 % while the clearance rate was up two points to 77%.
Rob McDonald paid the day’s second-highest price of $75,000 for Carson City’s Group 2 winner Abraaj. He is a full brother to G3 winner and sire Leelanau and a half brother to stakes winner All Trumps. He was consigned by Shadwell Farm.
The Keeneland November Sale concludes after 13 sessions this Sunday.
