Mungrup Stud sire Oratorio (Aus) continued his outstanding start at stud with another two winners at Ascot on Wednesday.  Oratorio (Aus) increased his tally to 12 winners of 26 races when Hot Tamale and Sunsilkin completed a running double in the first two events yesterday.

Oratorio (Stravinsky) was the star of the recent Perth Magic Millions yearling sale when his third crop sold to $150,000.  Trainer David Harrison paid that amount for a colt from Geigerita (Geiger Counter) offered by Toreby Stud.

Harrison has been an Oratorio fan from the outset.  The Lark Hill trainer prepares G3 Fairetha Stakes winner Waratah’s Secret who is one of five stakes performers from Oratorio’s first crop.

Stablemate Sunsilkin was an impressive winner of the Westspeed 3YO Hcp (1000m) yesterday.  Harrison trains her for a syndicate that includes Oratorio shareholders Lex and Shirley Piper.

Sunsilkin (3f Oratorio – Sunsilk by Ron Bon) had won at Pinjarra and Ascot in December.  Her dam Sunsilk won 7 races in Perth and Sydney and she is a half-sister to the Black Kite stakes winners Sovereign Kite (STC Canterbury Cup – G3) and Bold Kite (WATC Belgravia St – LR).

Hot Tamale (2f Oratorio – Fimmel Fox by Canny Lad) was the first leg of the Oratorio double on Wednesday.  She blitzed her Westspeed 2YO Plate rivals by four lengths.

Hot Tamale is trained by Paul Jordan for WAROA president Harvey Crossman and the Lima Syndicate.  They combined to win the 2010 Magic Millions Perth 3YO Trophy with For Your Eyes Only (Bletchley Park) last month.

Oratorio was bred by Keith Biggs and trained by Lee Freedman to win the Listed Tommy Smith Slipper at Doomben and the Adelaide Magic Millions as a two year-old and the G3 C S Hayes Stakes at Moonee Valley at three.

He has covered over 540 mares in his first five books in WA’s Great Southern.  Mungrup studmaster Gray Williamson increased his fee to $11,000 (inc gst) last year.
