Aussie stakes winner by Redoute’s Choice

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice added the 106th stakes winner to his imposing record when Aussies Love Sport powered to victory in the G3 Ming Dynasty Hcp (1400m) at Randwick.

Aussies Love Sport is trained by Gai Waterhouse and races in Segenhoe Stud’s red and yellow silks for Leslie Maloney and Katie Page.  He was bred by Page’s husband Gerry Harvey from the remarkable broodmare Miss Jakeo (Unbridled’s Song).

Stable spokesman Mark Newnham praised the winner as Jim Cassidy brought him back to scale on Saturday.  “He is a lovely colt.  You wouldn’t get a better looking animal and now he is starting to run up to those looks.”

Miss Jakeo is also the dam of G1 winner Mrs Onassis and G3 winners Miss Judgement and Fifth Avenue Lady.  She is a daughter of former star filly Lady Jakeo (G1 Blue Diamond Stakes) who also did a fine job at stud as the dam of stakes winners Red Arrow (USA) and Able Choice (Hong Kong).

Aussies Love Sport was purchased by Segenhoe Stud for $450,000 from Baramul Stud at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  Connections will wait until the dust settles before deciding whether to keep him going towards the G1 Golden Rose.

Plans then call for him to either head to Melbourne for the Caulfield Guineas or stay in Sydney for the Spring Champion Stakes.

The Magic Millions boss revealed his G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Mrs Onassis had run her last race after failing in the Concorde Stakes.  “She will be served by Redoute’s Choice,” Harvey said.  “She has been a good mare and her mother Miss Jakeo has been a great mare.”

Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) stands at Arrowfield Stud for a $137,500 (inc gst) service fee.
