Australian bred filly Raihana continued the remarkable winning streak of South African trainer Mike de Kock with a comprehensive victory in the UAE Oaks (LR) at Meydan on Thursday night.

Raihana (Aus) is raced by owner-breeder Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa who teamed up with de Kock to win the UAE 2000 Guineas (G3) with Australian bred colt Musir (Redoute’s Choice) last Thursday.

de Kock has now won 11 races at the Dubai carnival and will saddle up the Aussie stablemates when they go head-to-head in the UAE Derby next month.

Raihana (4f Elusive Quality – Esubooh by Sunday Silence) came from last to claim the US$250,000 classic from Bikini Babe (Montjeu) and UAE 1000 Guineas winner Siyaadah (Shamardal).

Raihana, who had won her maiden at Clairwood last July, is a direct descendant of champion mare Emancipation (Bletchingly) who was accorded Australian Horse of the Year honours in 1984.

Raihana has a 2yo half-sister named Rabsha (Dehere) who was passed-in for $45,000 at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  She is being trained by David Payne for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa and isn’t far away from a debut after trialling at Rosehill last Friday.

Their dam Esubooh was covered by Red Ransom in 2008 and exported to Argentina in March last year.
