A mare in foal to Vinery shuttler More Than Ready topped trade on Day 4 at the Keeneland November Sale on Thursday. Grey mare Chita (Cozzene) sold for $370,000 to Peter Blum carrying a PPT to More Than Ready on an April 24 cover.
Chita is a winning half-sister to White Moonstone (Dynaformer) who maintainer her unbeaten record with a G1 victory in the Meon Valley Stud Fillies Mile at Ascot in September. The Godolphin filly is one of five nominees for a Cartier Award as Europe’s Champion Filly for 2010.
Thursday’s top-priced foal was a Candy Ride filly that realized $320,000 from Australia buyer Waratah Thoroughbreds. She is a sister to this year’s G1 Pat O’Brien Stakes winner El Brujo. Waratah owner Paul Fudge spent $1.2 million for stakes-winning mare Elusive Sparkle on Tuesday.
Thursday’s session saw turnover of $16.80 million at an average of $63,912 which was down 23% from last year. The November Sale continues through to Saturday, November 20. The Sale is streamed live at www.keeneland.com.
