Australian winners’ premiership – Redoute’s Choice 135 – Commands 135

Redoute’s Choice is firing on all fronts in the countdown to season’s end on July 31.  The Arrowfield champion went $200,000 clear of Coolmore flag-bearer Encosta de Lago on the Australian sires’ premiership last Saturday after Melito (G1 Winter Stakes) and Mirrasalo (G3 Tattersalls Cup) completed a feature double at Eagle Farm.

Redoute’s Choice is also this season’s current leading sire by individual stakeswinners (14) and individual two-year-old winners (14).

And at Sale on Thursday, Redoute’s Choice drew level with Darley sire Commands on top of the individual winners category.  Both stallions have 135 winners after Redoute’s Choice colt Triumphant Choice won a Sale maiden over 1713m.

Triumphant Choice (3c Redoute’s Choice – Savannah Success by Success Express) is a half-brother to Cox Plate winner Savabeel (Zabeel).  He was a $1 million buy for Dynamic Syndications from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Triumphant Choice settled midfield in Eastcoast Plumbtec Maiden (1713m) and then skirted wide in the straight.  Jockey Ben Melham gave him two taps to keep his mind on the job and the colt bounded away to score by four lengths.

Triumphant Choice is from G1 NZ Oaks winner Savannah Success and is a half-brother to Cox Plate winner Savabeel who is carving out a successful career at Waikato Stud.  Their dam has a weanling colt by Redoute’s Choice and was bred back to the Arrowfield champion last year.
