Authorized off the mark in England

Darley shuttler Authorized sired his first winner at Lingfield on Saturday.

Tamarrud (2c Authorized – Miss Hepburn by Gone West) got his sire off the mark in the British Stallion Stud Stakes (1600m).  He won by a neck over Gassin Golf (Montjeu).

Tamarrud is a Darley homebred and hails from the family of English St Leger winner Rule Of Law.

Authorized shuttles to Darley’s Kelvinside base and his first southern yearlings will parade at the 2012 majors.  His initial book of mares included G1 and G2 winners My Brilliant Star, Pay My Bail, Almah and Dandify plus the dams of G1 winners Shot Of Thunder and Yell.

Authorized (Montjeu) won the G1 Racing Post Trophy at Newbury second time out.  He returned at three to capture the G1 Epsom Derby by five lengths and then dominated Dylan Thomas, Notnowcato and Duke of Marmalade in the G1 Juddmonte International at York.

From the stallion-making family of Champion sire Green Dancer, Authorized’s pedigree also includes last year’s classic colt Makfi (Dubawi).

Authorized will stand for a fee of $27,500 (inc gst) this year.

Darley also claimed the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday with Street Cry filly Discourse.  The winner is a half-sister to G1 winning sire Bandini (Fusaichi Pegasus).

Discourse is from Divine Dixie (Dixieland Band) who was part of the deal when Sheikh Mohammed purchasedStonerside Stable in 2008.
