Availability earns away trip to Melbourne

Exceed And Excel stretched his lead at the top of the Australian 2YO sires’ table for winners when Availability was successful on debut at Doomben on Wednesday.

The Darley resident has now sired 22 individual juvenile winners in Australia this season – well ahead of Jet Spur and Stratum on 14 apiece.

Availability (2g Exceed And Excel – Cosmic Strike by Made Of Gold) blitzed his rivals to score a two length victory in the Hardy Brothers Jewellers Plate (1110m).  “He’s a serious, serious racehorse,” trainer Rob Heathcote said.  “He will be going away with my team to Melbourne now.

Availability was bred by Barree Stud and he failed to reach a $170,000 reserve when offered by Toolooganvale Farm at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling Sale.

His dam Cosmic Strike was top-class winning at G3 level at Flemington and she was also G1 placed at headquarters in the 2002 VRC Salinger Stakes won by Rubitano.

Availability is her fourth winner from as many to race following Cosmic Choice (Redoute’s Choice), Luce del Mare (Fastnet Rock) and Cosmic Bolt (Tale of the Cat).
