Baramul buys Arapaho Miss at Magic Millions National Sale

Victoria Oaks winner Arapaho Miss topped Day 2 of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Monday.

The Group 1 winning daughter of Danehill Dancer was offered by Amarina Farm and purchased for $650,000 by Gerry Harvey’s Baramul Stud.  “She’s a quality mare in foal to in-form stallion Lonhro,” Harvey pointed out.  “She is a welcome addition to the Baramul Stud broodmare band.

“We’ve been able to buy some lovely mares over the past couple of days including Military Rose, Arapaho Miss, Rendzina and Sweepstaking.”

Melbourne based agent Damon Gabbedy, buying under Belmont Bloodstock Agency, snapped up the second top seller of the day when he bid $465,000 for Astrodame from Coolmore Stud.  She has a positive test to More Than Ready.

Quality racemare Acquired was next best at $430,000.  Sold in full work, she was knocked down to Mick Malone from Kitchwin Hills.

Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said the momentum created during the first session continued into Monday.  “It’s been pleasing to see the solid opening has continued at most levels of the market.

“People came wanting to do business and that is what has happened.  There has been a good vibe around the grounds over the past few days.”

The two select sessions grossed $16.02 million at an average of $48,269.  The clearance rate was 76%.

The National Broodmare Sale concludes on Tuesday with a general session prior to the focus switching to the National Yearling Sale.
