Baramul graduate claims G2 in Macau

Dr Sweet delivered another international feature for Baramul Stud with a G2 victory in the Spring Trophy in Macau on Saturday.

Dr Sweet (5g King Cugat – Retro Chic by Canny Lad) has now won 8 races including the Magic Millions Home of Champions Trophy in September 2010. He is trained by Gary Moore for owner Jack Wong who bought him from Baramul for $40,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Queensland HIT Sale.

Moore has been a great supporter of Magic Millions sales over the years and the Spring Trophy (1400m) carried prizemoney of M700,000 (AUD 79,770). Dr Sweet scored by a half length over Lucky Jai (Noverre) and Easy Money (Falkirk).

Dr Sweet is by Rivers End Stud stallion King Cugat and his dam Retro Chic is a sister to the dam of G3 WATC Champion Fillies winner Spirited One (Verglas). They are direct descendants of G1 VRC Oaks winner Rom’s Stiletto.

Dr Sweet’s yearling half-brother by Excites sold for $35,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He was part of the Barmul draft and was purchased by Tony Pemberton.

Retro Chic has a yearling filly by Testa Rossa and she foaled a first-crop colt by Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown in the spring.
