Lindsay Park stallion Barely a Moment was credited with his first winner when Whipthebrewer scored an eye-catching victory in the CBUS Plate (1000m) at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.

Whipthebrewer (2f  Barely A Moment – Constant In Opal by Lake Coniston) cruised home by more than two lengths on debut and will now head to Melbourne.  “I have a bit of an opinion of her,” trainer David Hayes said.  “She will run in either the Merson Cooper or the Maribyrnong Plate.”

Barely A Moment (Gilded Time) was bred in Western Australia and De Grey Stud owner Dick Vincent sold him to Lindsay Park agent Mark Pilkington at the 2003 Perth Magic Millions.

Barely A Moment won the G1 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes and returned as a spring three year-old for a string of seconds in the Ascot Vale Stakes, Caulfield Guineas and Sandown Guineas.

He more that made up for that frustrating preparation at four when he scored back-to-back G1 victories in the Dubai Racing Club Cup and Toorak Handicap at Caulfield.

Barely a Moment has been well patronized at Lindsay Park covering full books every year.  He stands for a $14,300 (inc gst) service fee.

Whipthebrewer’s dam Constant In Opal is a winning half-sister to Hammerbeam (Grand Lodge) who won a G3 Blue Diamond Prelude for Woodlands Stud in 2003.

The dam has also thrown the multiple winners Wonderland Kid (Jugah), Saegisang (Commands) and Sylvie Mossvegas (Commands).   She has a full brother to last Saturday’s Morphettville winner catalogued for the 2010 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling sale.
