Former Kiwi trainer John Sargent is assembling a strong team for his first full season in Australia and he unveiled another smart type when Dash For Love won a Randwick trial.
The grey colt by Scenic Lodge sire Dash For Cash cruised to the front in a 740m hit-out under Winona Costin last week and finished a length in advance of Teachest (Excellent Art) and Snitzel Knight (Snitzel).
His dam Young Love (Danzero) has already foaled the Dash For Cash winners Dodging Bullets and Dashing Young Love. The mare is a sister to G1 HK Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup winner Happy Zero.
Dodging Bullets completed a hat-trick at Flemington in June and trainer Symon Wilde will bring him back into work towards the end of the spring carnival.
Dash For Love was a $25,000 bargain at the 2014 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale when purchased by Hong Kong Racehorse Owners’ Association president Apollo Ng. He also bought this year’s G1 Australian Oaks winner Gust Of Wind as a yearling and Sargent is prepping her for the Caulfield – Melbourne Cups double.
Dash For Cash is gearing up for his second book at Scenic Lodge for a $4,400 (inc gst) service fee.
