The battle lines have been drawn between Jet Spur and Snitzel in Australia’s first-season sires’ premiership for winners.

Jet Spur went to the top of the table with 6 winners when his filly Dulacca Jet won the $50,000 Dalby Engine Rebuilders Plate on Saturday but Snitzel joined him when Entree was successful in the Gelder Memorial Plate at Muswellbrook on Monday.

Jet Spur has been represented by 19 starters to date and Snitzel 14.  Jet Spur had 114 live foals in his first crop while Snitzel had 87.  

Snitzel stands at Arrowfield for a $22,000 fee.  Jet Spur is a son of Arrowfield sire Flying Spur and he is based at Glenlogan Park for a $16,500 fee.

Toowoomba filly Dulacca Jet got up in the last stride to win the $50,000 QTIS 600 feature at Dalby’s Bunya Park racecourse.  Less than a length covered the first four home.

Dulacca Jet (2f Jet Spur – Pentagonal by Zeditave) was unplaced at her first two starts at Doomben and the Gold Coast for owners Brian and Kaylene Gibson.  They purchased her for $40,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions QTIS 600 yearling sale from Hallside Farm.

Trainer Kevin Kemp is seriously considering an assault on the $250,000 QTIS 600 2YO Plate on the Gold Coast on March 20.  “We’ll just follow the QTIS 600 Race Series around now,” Kemp said.  “I’d love to get her to the Gold Coast for that big race next month.”

Dulacca Jet is the fifth winner for her dam Pentagonal and four of them have the “Dulacca” prefix in their names.  Pentagonal is a winning half-sister to NSW country champ Newton’s Rings (Spectrum) whose 22 wins includes the Listed Scone Cup and Gosford Pacesetter Stakes.

Entree (2f Snitzel – Prima by Marscay) was a very impressive winner on debut at Muswellbrook on Monday.  She was sent out a $2.70 favourite and scored by nearly two lengths sporting Arrowfield’s black and yellow diamond silks.

Snitzel got his sixth winner from a half-sister to champion sire Zabeel.  Her trainer Paul Messara is on a Group 1 assignment with Beneteau in the Blue Diamond this Saturday.  But unlike her stablemate, who was a $1 million yearling, Entrée was passed-in for $37,500 by Arrowfield at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.
