Bel Esprit has taken out his seventh straight Victorian sires’ premiership with 154 individual winners and over $5.55 million in prizemoney.

The Eliza Park International champion defeated Darley sire Reset ($4.62 million) and fellow Eliza Park International stallion Magnus ($3.57 million) who spent the majority of the season as the stallion with the best winners-to-runners strike rate in the nation.

Blue Gum Farm resident Elvstroem ($3.48 million) and Greta West Stud sire God’s Own ($3.29 million) filled out the Top 5 among Victorian based stallions.

Bel Esprit finished one shy of his Australian record-equalling 155 winners in 2012-13 and has now produced over 100 individual winners for the past four seasons.  His first feature of the season arrived with Se Sauvier in the G2 Manifold Stakes at Flemington and he signed off with Royal Request in the Northern Territory Derby on July 19.

World-champion mare Black Caviar stands alone among his progeny that have now earned in excess of $40 million.

Darley sire Domesday claimed the Victorian 2YO title with 8 winners of $475,015.  Next best were Woodside Park’s Written Tycoon ($390,909) and Swettenham Stud’s Kaphero ($206,710).

Blue Gum stallion Turffontein finished fourth with $205,245 and that was enough for him to capture the Victorian first-season sires’ title.
