Belle Jet propelled for QTIS Bonus

Glenlogan Park stallions Jet Spur and Show A Heart will both have live chances in the $250,000 QTIS Plate at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Jet Spur has sired 13 individual two year-old winners so far this season and is in equal third spot with Lonhro right behind Stratum (14).  Exceed And Excel is home and hosed on 21 winners.

He appears to have a second-to-none chance of claiming the thick end of the prize being represented by the stakes winning filly Belle D’Amour and the improving Pat Duff youngster Jet Star Girl.

Belle D’Amour showed her rivals a clean pair of heels in the Listed Lancaster Stakes and trainer Barry Baldwin expects her to be extremely tough to beat.  “She is a quality filly who has never run a bad race,” he said. “I’ve been thrilled with her work in the last week and expect her to be hitting the line strongly.”

Pat Duff is just as bullish about his filly Jet Star Girl.  “We drew the car-park in the Lancaster Stakes and had to go back to last,” Duff recalled.  “There was no option other than to drop her out and she never got galloping room in the straight.

“The jockey came in and reported that he was confident she could have won if the breaks had come at the right time and I tend to agree with him.  She has drawn perfectly and I think she will box seat behind the pace and give a terrific sight.”

Popular Gold Coast trainer Kelly Doughty will saddle up the Show A Heart gelding Black Cash for the last time this preparation before sending him to the paddocks for a well-earned rest.

“He has done a tremendous job for us,” Kelly said. “He has already earned over $200,000 and we expect the best of him is still to come.  We took him to Rockhampton for their big race two weeks ago but the track was pretty hard and he just felt the effects of racing on such an unforgiving surface.

“He didn’t really let down and lengthen like we know he can.  He has travelled home well and we know he will be suited by the 1400m.”
