Belle of Three Bridges

Hallowell Belle ran a tremendous second to Sepoy in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes on Saturday and that performance has increased the asking price of her half-sister at this week’s Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.

Victorian based Three Bridges Thoroughbreds will offer a Red Ransom half-sister to Hallowell Belle as agent at Oaklands Junction on Wednesday as Lot 420.

“Hallowell Belle is one of eight two year-olds to race and show promise this season from our draft last year which is an encouraging sign,” Three Bridges owner Peter Liston said.  “This is a relatively new farm for us having moved across from South Australia and the oldest horses bred from here are only three year-olds.

“We aim to raise them as naturally as possible and they grow and develop in 100 acre paddocks, which is a luxury few farms can offer.”

Hallowell Belle (2f Starcraft – Bella Inez by Beautiful Crown) is trained by Peter Moody for Fremantle based businessman Craig Thompson.  She was a $170,000 buy out of the Three Bridges draft at Oaklands Junction 12 months ago and has already returned over $212,000.

Her immediate program is still up in the air although she does hold a G2 entry for the $500,000 Karrakatta Plate at Ascot on March 19.

Hallowell Belle’s dam Bella Inez is a sister to G1 Caulfield Guineas winner In Top Swing and, when bookmakers open a pre-post market for the G1 Thousand Guineas in October, Hallowell Belle will be one of the favourites.

Bella Inez is owned by Victorian based breeder Saconi Thoroughbreds and she has a filly foal by Sebring but missed to Starcraft last year.
