Darley sires completed a running double at Randwick on Saturday and they chimed in with a winning treble at Caulfield.
Parthian (Lonhro) and Femina Fashion (Shamardal) saluted in Sydney while Warm Love (Octagonal) began the day with an all-the-way victory in Melbourne. She was followed by Safe (Strategic) and classy sprinter First Command (Commands).
Warm Love’s sire Octagonal is 18 and Darley didn’t advertise him on a commercial basis last year. The Caulfield winner benefited from a clever front-running ride by Dwayne Dunn to score a one length victory in the John Moule Hcp (1100m).
Warm Love (3f Octagonal – Charangas by Flying Spur) has won four of her nine starts for owner-trainer David Brideoake who bought her for $9,000 at the 2008 Inglis Great Southern weanling sale. The Mornington trainer tried without luck to syndicate the filly and she has since returned more than $160,000 in prizemoney.
Warm Love was coming off a Flemington win before Christmas and Brideoake will take her back to headquarters for the Listed Kensington Stakes on January 22.
She is the first foal for Bathurst winner Charangas who has since foaled fillies by Lonhro and Street Sense. Second dam A Mambo (Marscay) is a half-sister to G1 NZ & AJC Oaks winner Domino (Grosvenor).
