Big rap on debut winner by Bianconi

Ridgeview Park’s new resident Bianconi (USA) sired his first juvenile winner of the season at Bendigo on Saturday.

The Shaun Dwyer trained first starter Lazyaxl travelled a treat behind the leaders on his home track in the Pura Milk Maiden Plate (900m).  Jockey Jason Lyon peeled off heels on the corner and then pushed into the clear to win by a length.

“It didn’t surprise me that he won so well,” trainer Shaun Dwyer said.  “I told Jason he was good enough physically but is still getting there mentally.

“Full credit to Jason.  He rode the perfect race on Lazyaxl and then got off and gave the horse a big rap.  He’s big and gangly and gives the impression he will get up to a mile.”

Lazyaxl (2g Bianconi – Gypsy Battalia by Agincourt) is a homebred for Max Graham, Trevor Nuthall and Jim Miller.  They raced his dam to 8 victories in Victoria and NSW including the Greater Dandenong Cup at Sandown plus Cowra and Gundagai Cups.

Gypsy Battalia had already foaled minor winners by Domesday, Estambul and Statue of Liberty before Lazyaxl made it four on Saturday.

Bianconi (Danzig) was based at Swettenham Stud before moving up the Northern Hwy to Ridgeview Park last month.  Studmaster Phil Sloane will stand him for a $5,500 (inc gst) service fee this year.
