Coolmore shuttler Danehill Dancer celebrated a big weekend after siring two G1 winners in Europe.

It all started with Mastercraftsman, who stormed home to win the Irish 2,000 Guineas on Saturday night by a widening four lengths.  It was the third G1 success for Mastercraftsman, who also won the G1 National Stakes and Phoenix Stakes as a two-year-old.

“The performance he put in the Phoenix was unbelievable over six furlongs when he jumped and went away on good fast ground. For a horse to be able to do that with that kind of speed and courage, then the sky could be the limit for him,” Trainer Aiden O’Brien said.

The trainer added that Mastercraftsman (3c Danehill Dancer-Starlight Dreams by Black Tie Affair) would most likely tackle the G1 St James Palace Stakes at his next outing.

Mastercraftsman is the third winner from as many to race for Starlight Dreams and is a three-quarter brother to US G3 winner Genuine Devotion (Rock Of Gibraltar). He is also closely related to champion G1 Italian miler Pressing (Soviet Star).

Just 24 hours after Mastercratsman’s demolition job in the 2,000 Guineas, Danehill Dancer was back in the winner’s circle with Again, who saluted in the G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas.

Again (3f Danehill Dancer-Cumbres by Kahyasi), a G1 winner of last season’s Moyglare Stud Stakes ploughed through the heavy track conditions and prevailed by a long neck for leading rider Johnny Murtagh.

“We didn’t run her at Newmarket because of the very quick ground and we’ve ended up with the other extreme – very slow ground at the Curragh,” Trainer David Wachman said.  “It’s great to win my first Classic. She’s always been a nice horse and I’m very lucky to have her.  I thought she showed a lack of a run in the last 100 yards, but Johnny always thought she was going to win from a furlong and a half out. It turned into a slog but she stayed well.”

Again is one of four winners for Cumbres, who is an unraced half sister to multiple G1 winner and champion sire Montjeu (Sadler’s Wells).  Connections will now consider running Again in the G1 Oaks at Epsom in 12 days time.

“She is in everything and has all sorts of options,” Wachman said.  “She is tough and she stays all day. There is also the G1 Pretty Polly, the G1 Irish Oaks and the G1 Coronation Stakes to consider.”

Danehill Dancer capped a brilliant weekend when News Alert (4g Danehill Dancer-Breaking News by Brief Truce) won the Listed BTC Chief de Beers Quality at Doomben.

The Coolmore shuttler is due to return to Australia for the upcoming breeding season and will stand for a reduced service fee of $88,000 inc gst.
