Black type for Sir Percy

Rich Hill Stud shuttle stallion Sir Percy has produced his first stakes performer from a handful of European representatives.

That honour has gone to Percy Jackson with the English-trained colt continuing the fine start he has made to his career with a runner-up finish in a black-type event in Germany.

The two-year-old was second in the Listed Oppenheim-Rennen over 1400 metres at Cologne.  Percy Jackson has now put together a record of two wins and two placings from his four appearances from Denis Coakley’s Newbury yard.

The  winner of the race Amaron has a link to Rich Hill as he is a colt by Shamardal out of Amandalini, a mare by former Rich Hill resident Bertolini.  The Danzig stallion spent four seasons at the Walton farm during which time he sired the G1 New Zealand Breeders’ Stakes winner Juice and the G2 Royal Stakes winner Puttanesca

Sir Percy has arrived in New Zealand and is currently in quarantine at the Karaka facility.  Sir Percy will be paraded alongside champion Australian racehorse Shocking and associate stallions Pentire and Any Suggestion at Rich Hill’s Open Day on Sunday, August 7.
