Black-type in sight for Splash Of Moet

Exciting Dash For Cash filly Splash Of Moet will graduate to black-type racing after winning the Len French Hcp (1000m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

Trainer Mark Minervini has the LR Lightning Stakes (1050m) on July 27 in his sights and a trip to Melbourne is also on the radar.  “That’s a relief – I’m pleased just to have her back,” Minervini said following the first-up victory on a Slow 7 surface.  “She travelled really well and only needed a bit of luck to work into the clear before the corner.”

Jockey Shayne Cahill let the lightly-raced filly cruise home for a comfortable victory.  “She had plenty in reserve and I didn’t want to knock her around,” he said.  “She’s got a turn of foot, even in that going.”

Splash Of Moet (3f Dash For Cash – Storm Tossed by Rory’s Jester) has only been beaten once in four starts and that was back in October when she pulled up with an injury that required a 40 week spell on the sidelines.

She had opened her career with two on-pace victories at Morphettville in June 2012 by a combined margin of 9 lengths.

Minervini bought Splash Of Moet for $42,0000 at the 2011 Adelaide Magic Millions.  Swettenham Stud resident Dash For Cash also sired stakes winning filly Dashitude from the same sale.

Her dam Storm Tossed won twice at Murray Bridge in Lindsay Park’s colours.  Second-dam Stormy Dawn (Bluebird) was raced by Colin Hayes to 6 wins in Melbourne and Adelaide topped by the Listed SAJC Cinderella Stakes at Victoria Park.

Dash For Cash (Secret Savings) will stand for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee at Swettenham Stud this year.
