Champion filly Blind Luck has been officially retired from racing and has been booked to Darley stallion Bernardini. The decision was announced earlier this week by owner Dr. Mark Dedomenico and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
Blind Luck (Pollard’s Vision) was a Group winner as a two, three and four year-old. She won the G1 Hollywood Starlet and G1 Oak Leaf Stakes as a juvenile and claimed the G1 Alabama Stakes, G1 Kentucky Oaks and G1 Las Virgenes Stakes at three.
As a four year-old in 2011, she took the G1 Vanity Handicap and scored a nose victory over 2011 Horse of the Year Havre de Grace in the G2 Delaware Hcp (2000m). She retired with a record of 22: 12-7-2 and earnings of $3.27 million.
Dedomenico bought out his partners with a $2.50 million bid at the Keeneland November Sale. Bred in Kentucky, Blind Luck is the first foal out of the winning Best of Luck mare Lucky One.
Bernardini, whose 2012 fee at Darley Kentucky is US$150,000, was North America’s leading second-crop sire of 2011.
