Bonny filly for Starspangledbanner

Starspangledbanner has sired his first foal at Tweenhills Stud in Gloucestershire.  The filly arrived just a week after Tweenhills welcomed the first foal by Swettenham shuttler Equiano.

The Starspangledbanner filly is from Eliza Doolittle (Royal Applause) who won at Kempton Park and is a half-sister to the more than useful sprinters Sampower Star, Fire Up The Band, Strike Up The Band and Absent Friends.

Tweenhills studmaster David Redvers bought Eliza Doolittle for 77,000 guineas at the 2011 Tattersalls December Sale.  “She’s a nice, correct filly with plenty of presence about her,” Redvers said.  “We’re very pleased with what we’ve got.”

Eliza Doolittle originally sold as a yearling at Tattersalls in November 2007 for 140,000gns.

In the next fortnight, Starspangledbanner is expecting close relations to stakes winners the calibre of Infallible, Russian Rhythm, Lady Alexander, Excellent Art, Zafeen, Soldier’s Tale and Canford Cliffs.

Starspangledbanner (Choisir) was a G1 winner of the Caulfield Guineas, Oakleigh Plate, Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee Stakes and Newmarket July Cup.

He shuttles to Coolmore for a $44,000 fee in Australia but is priced much lower at 10,000 euros (AUD 12,385) at their Irish headquarters.
