Waikato Stud has closed bookings for Savabeel.  New Zealand’s hottest young sire is standing the 2012 season at a $35,000 service fee.

Savabeel (Zabeel) has started his stud career in style with 17 stakes winners and he can finish the current season with the Queensland Oaks – Derby double courtesy of Dowager Queen and Brambles.

With Group 1 winners Sangster (VRC Derby) and Scarlett Lady (NZ Stakes) featuring brightest among his progeny this season, Savabeel has been the subject of incredible breeder support.

“The local support for Savabeel has been great, but I have to say, the support from Australian breeders has been overwhelming,” Waikato Stud’s Mark Chittick revealed.  “He really is doing a superb job at what is still an early stage of his sire career.

“This season alone he has had the 10 individual stakes winners and if you look at his stakes winners-to-foals ratio, he is actually ahead of Australian heavy hitters Fastnet Rock and Encosta de Lago.”

Savabeel’s oldest are rising six year-olds and his overall record comprises 143 individual winners of 311 races a 65% strike-rate.
