Book Full for Written Tycoon

Written Tycoon has increased his lead at the top of the Australian 2YO Sires’ table following Winning Rupert’s gutsy Group 2 victory in the Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben.

Winning Rupert had won on debut at the Sunshine Coast in April and sent his earnings to $184,500 despite racing greenly on Saturday.  “He is a big horse with a heap of ability,” jockey Jeff Lloyd said.  “Both his starts have been from wide barriers and we have had to ride him forward.  I think he will be some horse when he comes back in the spring.”

The Champagne Classic increased Written Tycoon’s juvenile stats to 7 winners of 15 races for earnings over $4.07 million this season.  That’s more than double the prizemoney of second-placed Not A Single Doubt.

Woodside Park bumped his service fee from $19,800 to $49,500 after star colt Capitalist won the G1 Golden Slipper but that didn’t deter broodmare owners – Woodside has already posted the “Book Full” sign for 2016.

Winning Rupert became the 18th stakes winner for his sire and trainer Bjorn Baker has always had a huge opinion of the colt who cost $67,500 from Eliza Park at the 2015 Magic Millions March Yearling Sale.  His dam Winaura (Show A Heart) had a filly by I Am Invincible make $80,000 to Ontrack Racing at this year’s Magic Millions.

“Written Tycoon has been really good to me,” Baker said.  “But now I can’t afford them!”

Baker saddled up Music Magnate at Scone on Saturday and the Written Tycoon sprinter did his winter carnival claims no harm with a fighting second in the LR Luskin Star Stakes (1300m).  He holds Group 1 nominations for the Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke Hcp.
