Proven stallion Bradbury’s Luck has been signed to join the roster at Yarradale Stud in WA.
The announcement was made shortly after his Group 1 galloper Luckygray returned to action with a barrier trial win at Belmont on Monday. He has earned over $2.67 million and was last seen winning the G3 Roma Cup in May 2015.
Luckygray was named WA Horse of the Year after capturing five black-type events including the G1 Railway Stakes in 2011-12. He added a second Group 1 in the Kingston Town Classic later that year and claimed a second G1 Railway Stakes in 2013.
Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers purchased Bradbury’s Luck from Glenlogan Stud in Queensland where he has sired over 180 individual winners at an outstanding 67% strike-rate.
The 13 year-old grey son of Redoute’s Choice has sired the winners of 17 black-type events in Australia and his international progeny includes Singapore star Cash Luck who claimed the G1 Kranji Mile.
“Bradbury’s Luck has stood at Glenlogan for his entire stallion career,” Yarradale Stud bloodstock adviser Grant Burns told the West Australian newspaper. “He has always been on Ron’s radar and when I found out Rich Enuff was going to Glenlogan this year, we put the wheels in motion.”
Trained by Graeme Rogerson, Bradbury’s Luck was a top-class sprinter winning the LR Canonbury Stakes at Randwick and Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast. He was also placed in the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude in a brief 6-start career.
Champion sire of sires Redoute’s Choice got him from G1 Doncaster Hcp winner Skating (At Talaq). She also foaled the stakes winners Murtajill (G3 Skyline Stakes) and Sunset Run (LR June Stakes).
Bradbury’s Luck was named after Australian ice-skater Steven Bradbury who became a folk-hero after causing a huge upset at the 2002 Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City. In racing parlance, he was tailed off but grabbed the Gold Medal when the leaders all fell on the home turn.
