Gai Waterhouse has kept Brightexpectations in work after a trip to Melbourne and the colt should qualify for the Magic Millions 2yo Classic with a Wyong win this Sunday.
Brightexpectations will start one of the favourites in the Wyong Slipper (Race 7 at 4.34pm AEDT) and a winning slice of the $200,000 event will ensure a start at the Gold Coast in January. He was a $150,000 buy out of the Torryburn Stud draft at the 2009 Magic Millions yearling sale.
Brightexpectations (2c More Than Ready – Miss Brightman by Unbridled’s Song) gave a great sight down the Flemington straight in the G3 Maribyrnong Plate but wilted in the final stages to finish fourth to General Truce.
He is by Australia’s Champion 2yo Sire from a Hawkesbury juvenile winner. Second dam Espina (Danehill) was a Sandown winner for Lloyd Williams and Kerry Packer in 1997. She is a half-sister to Brilliance (Rory’s Jester), a G3 winner of the AJC Canonbury Stakes.
