Vinery sire Testa Rossa has 35 lots catalogued for the Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale including a brother to Group 1 winning sprinter Ortensia.
The Paul Messara trained mare cruised to victory in Saturday’s G1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot.
The win was celebrated by owners Alister Fraser and Emma Ridley who bought her for $50,000 as a yearling. They were heartbroken after her previous G1 win in the AJC The Galaxy was stripped after she returned a swab irregularity.
Ortensia (6m Testa Rossa – Aerate’s Pick by Picknicker) is a daughter of Magic Millions graduate Testa Rossa and her younger full brother will go under the hammer as Lot 438 during the third session of the auction on January 13.
Ortensia has earned over $1.50 millions from 10 wins in 29 starts. Her second Winterbottom win came on the back of a brilliant first up victory at Flemington on Victoria Oaks Day.
Her dam Aerate’s Pick is a sister to Intelligent Star and half sister to Blaze the Turf (dam of Soleil). Her latest Testa Rossa colt is being prepared by Woodside Park on behalf of Riverside Stud owner Len Rhodes.
The cream of Testa Rossa’s latest yearling crop will be at the Gold Coast Magic Millions which will commence on January 11.
