Bruhn backs Bianconi

Mount Gambier trainer Ricky Bruhn crossed the border and collected the cash with a Swettenham Stud double at Warrnambool last Thursday.

Bruhn won with the half-brothers Conidel (Bianconi) and Cashadel (Dash For Cash).  They are both out of Bruhn’s Keltrice mare Deltrice and they both saluted at 10/1.

Bruhn believes Conidel has the scope to make the grade in town.  “He’s a nice type but I will keep him in the country for the time being because he’s still learning.  I like Bianconi as a sire.  They’re winners!”

Cashadel is a year older and Bruhn will take him to Morphettville for his next start.  The Dash For Cash gelding has won races at Warrnambool (2), Mt Gambier and Penola.

Bruhn prepared their dam Deltrice for wins at Caulfield (3) and Moonee Valley.  She is a half-sister to LR VRC St Leger winner Inkster (Umatilla).

Bruhn will give Deltrice a year off this spring but he has sent Del de Lago and Zedawind to Swettenham sires this year.

Dol de lago (Encosta de Lago) won races at Sandown and Morphettville and bowed out with a Penola Cup victory in April 2010.  Bruhn also trained her dam Dolvite to a Listed victory in the 1997 Murray Bridge Gold Cup.

Dol de lago foaled a Turffontein filly first up in September and has been covered by Bianconi.

Zedawind (Strategic) crossed the border for her first two wins at Stawell and Casterton in 2007 and then developed into a Naracoorte specialist winning 8 races there including a last-start victory over 1200m in March.

Zedawind is a half-sister to Sedately (Brave Salute) who won 10 races for the Bruhn family highlighted by a Listed victory in the 1994 Hardy Brothers Classic at Flemington.

Swettenham also celebrated that day when Blevic won the G1 Victoria Derby for Robert Sangster and Colin Hayes.
