Can the Man shuttles to Spendthrift Australia

Precocious sprinter-miler Can the Man (USA) will join the growing list of shuttlers to Spendthrift Australia’s new Victorian base this year.

“We believe Can the Man will offer Australian breeders a lot of value,” Spendthrift owner B. Wayne Hughes said.  “He’s really is a good-looking horse and we think Australian breeders are going to like what they see.”

Can the Man (Into Mischief – Smolensk by Danzig) will be available for a Share The Upside fee of $5,500 (inc gst) and he will also be offered at $3,850 (inc gst) on a standard live foal contract.

Last month, Spendthrift began rolling out its southern roster starting with Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor) and Warrior’s Reward (Medaglia d’Oro).

A $320,000 purchase at the Barretts 2YO Sale in May 2013, Can the Man won a Del Mar 2YO Maiden on debut and was then placed in the G1 Del Mar Futurity.  He closed out the year with a Listed victory in the Speakeasy Stakes at Santa Anita.

He reached a career-high the following season for trainer Bob Baffert with a wire-to-wire victory in the G3 Affirmed Stakes at Santa Anita.

Can the Man’s Group 2 winning dam Smolensk hails from the family of American Broodmare of the Year Best In Show and her champion Australian descendant Redoute’s Choice.
